Included with Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate versions of Windows 7, Backup and Restore is a relatively good backup option for users wanting to backup Windows to a local or external hard drive.
A full backup using this tool means that Windows 10 will make a copy of everything on your computer, including installation files, settings, apps, and all your files stored in the primary drive, as well as those files stored in different locations.
In Windows 10, click the Start button and go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup. Under Back up using File History, click Add a drive. Assuming you've connected a workable backup device, Windows displays a list of them.

What happens if I go back to Windows 10 from 11?
After downloading and installing Windows 11, you only have 10 days to revert your system to Windows 10. If you roll back to the old OS, all the information stored on your computer will automatically repopulate there, so you won't have to worry about any files disappearing.
The only way is a reinstall. If it has been over ten days since you upgraded to Windows 11, the options are limited for you. To go back to Windows 10, you would need to perform a custom installation of Windows that would remove everything unless you backed up.
A 500 GB backup may take a few hours (maybe up to 10, give or take). If it's a USB connected drive, it may take longer. I would figure the estimate will eventually adjust properly; just let it run.
